He was arrested at the Krstac Border Crossing for Cross-Border Traffic on reasonable suspicion of having committed the criminal offenses of 'smuggling' and 'giving gifts and other forms of benefits', the BiH Border Police said.

On the same day, pursuant to an order issued by a preliminary proceedings judge of the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina, BiH Border Police officers searched R. Š., his vehicle and his family home. In cooperation with officials of the Indirect Taxation Authority of BiH, specifically the Group for Prevention of Smuggling and Offenses, they also searched a car scrapyard in the Foca municipality area.

During the operation, 11 vehicles bearing UK registration markings were temporarily seized, along with eight UK license plates found in a garage that belonged to the smuggled vehicles.

A report on the criminal offenses allegedly committed by R. S. will be submitted to the prosecutor of the Prosecutor’s Office of BiH.

The BiH Border Police said it continues to deploy all available human resources and material and technical capacities to protect the state border and is determined to take all available measures and actions to combat all forms of cross-border crime, both independently and in cooperation with other law enforcement agencies, to create a safe environment for all citizens of BiH.
