The Court of BiH has confirmed the indictment against nine people accused of crimes against humanity committed in the Sokolac area, near Sarajevo, in the case of the attack on the village of Novoseoci in September 1992, when 45 Bosniak civilians were killed, the Balkan Investigative Reporting Network (BIRN) has learned.

The youngest victim of this crime was 14, the Prosecution said.

The accused for this crime are: Milan Tupajic, Dragomir Obradovic (AKA Dragan), Momcilo Pajic (AKA Paja), Aleksa Gordic (AKA Aco), Miladin Gasevis (AKA Chirko), Momir Kezunovic (AKA Keza), Branislav Kezunovic (AKA Miki), Zeljko Gasevic (AKA Gaso) and Jadranko Suka.

According to the indictment, the nine of them are charged with being officials in civilian authorities, commanders and members of the 2nd Romanian Motorized Brigade of the Army of Republika Srpska (VRS) during the war in BiH and the widespread and systematic attack by the Territorial Defence (TO), the Army of Republika Srpska (VRS) and the police on the Bosniak civilian population in Sokolac and surrounding areas, and participating in the joint criminal enterprise and attack on the village of Novoseoci.

After committing the crime and murders, on September 30, 1992, the local mosque in Novoseoci was demolished, the remains of which were thrown into a dump where the execution of the victims took place.

As previously stated, the Prosecution is also investigating the suspect Radislav Krstic, who was sentenced to 35 years in prison by the Hague Tribunal as a former commander of the VRS Drina Corps for the genocide committed in July 1995 in Srebrenica.

In addition, the Prosecutor's Office announced that together with partner institutions and agencies, they undertook activities to locate a suspect who is in Canada, and contacts have been made with the Canadian authorities with the aim of extraditing him to the BiH judiciary.
