Bosnian Armed Forces (AF BiH) began setting up tents in the Lipa migrant camp, north-west Bosnia, at the request of the country's tripartite Presidency, the Defence Ministry said in a statement on Friday.
“Units from the Logistics Command and the 4th, 5th and 6th Infantry Brigade of the AF BiH, from the locations of Livno, Sarajevo, Kiseljak, Zenica, Bijeljina, Orasje, Dubrave, Bihac, Mahovljani and Banja Luka, with a total of 40 vehicles and over 150 units, started moving towards the Bihac area, this morning at 5 o'clock, and the “Lipa” migrant camp, which was recently devastated in a fire. Upon arrival at the destination, just before 2 pm, BiH AF units began setting up military tents for migrants, which should be handed over to the International Organization for Migration (IOM) after installation,” the Ministry said.
They added that the request to set up tents was submitted to them by Bosnia's Security Ministry. The country's tripartite Presidency approved this request, ordering the Armed Forces to head to the location of the recently devastated camp.
In this way, the Defence Ministry said, the Armed Forces will help the migrants and alleviate the current crisis.
