When asked by N1 whether it was true that there was so much immorality and sexual abuse at the Academy of Performing Arts in Sarajevo, Bosnian Director Haris Pasovic said Wednesday that he was just as shocked and shaken by all the testimonies as most people who read it on the Facebook page “Nisam Trazila” (“I didn’t ask for it”).

“Four exceptional colleagues who graduated from our Academy, launched the page “Nisam trazila”, responding with the very title to what is very often reproached to these young women. People usually say: Well, you asked for it, you dressed in a short skirt, what you’re saying is horrible and such nonsense – but that is often used as an argument. They invited all women from the region to share their experiences anonymously. And then we learned that there were cases in the acting department at the Academy of Performing Arts in Sarajevo that were forms of abuse and sexual harassment,” Pasovic said commenting on the parallels between the said Facebook page and the case which shook the region after several Serbian actresses led by Milena Radulovic reported a known Belgrade acting school director Mika Aleksic for rape and sexual harassment.

N1 asked him who was the professor of orthopaedics, who allegedly undressed female students to examine their spines, considering that this was also mentioned on the said Facebook page.

“I read that and immediately talked to the management of our school at the Academy. We invited all current and former students, employees, anyone who may have had some kind of problem to report it. In my opinion, it is best when you report to the competent institutions. More and more stories will be coming out on the Facebook group. As for the Academy and the Department of Directing, we had no issues, neither heard nor have we had any cases. As for what is said about acting, I will certainly ask my colleagues to clarify this as soon as possible and to establish the facts and take steps, whether they are legal steps or any other kind. The victims must be heard, the perpetrators must be punished, and our consciousness must be more elevated and we must oppose such a horrible phenomenon together,” Pasovic pointed out.

He called on all actors and stresses to report all and any issue they might have had.

“I also support those who didn’t come forward but have had such problems. I will insist that this matter be clarified as much as I can, but we must also, as a society, prevent this from happening because these are crimes and criminal acts,” Pasovic concluded.
