The Energoinvest company from Sarajevo, which supplies the entity to the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina with natural gas, did not receive a request from Gazprom Export regarding the payment of gas in rubles, the company said on Friday.

They state that gas has been paid for in Euros since March this year.

“What position the company will take if the request for payment in rubles appears is under consideration, but so far we did not receive such requests. According to the latest information, BiH is not on the list of countries from which collection in rubles is required. If such a request arises, we will resolve it,” Energoinvest told Fena.

The contract that Energoinvest d.d. Sarajevo has signed with Gazprom Export in 1997 has no expiration date. All significant changes to the substance of the contract are defined in annexes.

The natural gas arriving via the “Turkish Stream” arrives in BiH from Russia via Turkey, Bulgaria and Serbia. Some BiH analysts have expressed concern, lately, that there could be problems with gas transportation via Bulgaria.

Energoinvest explained that even if that happens, then the entire southeastern part of the Balkans and a part of Europe that is supplied with gas through this course would be left without gas supply, which would have consequences of a legal nature.
