Bosnia’s Central Election Commission (CEC) decided to call local elections on October 6, 2024, during their Wednesday session.
First, the Commission adopted the agenda and then the CEC President Irena Hadziabdic said that everything will be explained in detail at Wednesday’s press conference.
“In order to have time to prepare all this, we denied hosting to TV companies that requested it, and we made ourselves available after the announcement of the elections,” Hadziabdic.
The CEC BiH announced the elections according to the provisions of the Election Law of Bosnia and Herzegovina, which were imposed in March by the High Representative, Christian Schmidt. Despite the announcements from the Republika Srpska (RS) entity and the recent adoption of the unconstitutional Electoral Law of the RS, the CEC BiH announced elections for all cities and municipalities in BiH.
