Bosnia’s Prosecutor’s Office said that it is prepared to take over organised crime suspect Darko Elez, believed to have been involved in several mafia-style executions, from authorities in Serbia after the Appellate Court in Belgrade approved the request to extradite him.
The Belgrade Court decided that all the conditions for Elez’s extradition have been met and now the decision is up to Serbia’s Justice Minister.
Darko Elez, born in 1980, stands accused of organized crime in connection with several serious crimes, including murder, attempted murder, robbery other crimes committed between 2005 and 2009.
He is also wanted concerning an ongoing investigation the BiH Prosecutor’s Office and the Interior Ministry of Bosnia’s semi-autonomous Republika Srpska (RS) entity are conducting into “serious crimes committed in the area of Istocno Sarajevo (East Sarajevo) and BiH, including two murders committed by mafia liquidation methods in 2018 and 2019, the planning of and attempted murders in the area of Istocno Sarajevo and Bijeljina, extortion, intimidation and other crimes.”
