The central Eid ceremony of the Riyasat of the Islamic Community in Bosnia and Herzegovina on the occasion of Eid al-Fitr took place on Wednesday morning at the Gazi Husrev Bey Mosque in Sarajevo, where the Eid prayer was held.

On this occasion, Husein Kavazovicheld a special sermon.

“Ramadan has passed, the month of Allah's mercy, forgiveness and salvation from suffering in fire. Last night we saw it off with a bit of sadness and said goodbye to the many good things it brought us. We are extremely happy this morning because we have welcomed Eid,” said Kazavaovic at the beginning of his speech.

He pointed out that in the month of Ramadan, as in other months, humility stands out: hard work and competition for the good bring happiness and God's mercy is in people.

Rais Kavazovic emphasized that the path of believers is the path of goodness. That in it is his strength, happiness and satisfaction. Kavazovic said that competing for good is the highest level of realized faith.

“Our best weapons are truth and patience. Achieving our goals requires work, time and patience. Whoever does not count on these three and ignores them will not succeed. And where good fails, evil will triumph,” he noted.

On this occasion, Kavazovic emphasized that the health and strength of society, and community, is not reflected in the number of people in relation to others, in political or economic power, but exclusively in respect for everyone's rights, the establishment of social justice and solidarity among people.

“Dignified and meaningful dialogue is the responsibility of all of us. It must have nothing to do with, God forbid, violence and coercion. The conversation between people must be conducted solely for the purpose of establishing a new value, which will include everyone's rights, and not for the purpose of destruction and setting ultimatums. No one should be cornered in that conversation; everyone must show composure and prudence.

The basis of that dialogue is open and uninterrupted communication. We must not make easy promises, just to achieve any result. The most important thing is that we respect the laws of our country, that we do not collapse its institutions, that we come to an agreement patiently, through conversation and dialogue, and that we trust each other and keep our word. Compliance with the law is a vital issue in our society. All our successes and all our misfortunes stem from that relationship. The laws ensure everyone's rights and protect the freedom of the individual, from anyone's supremacy and subjugation,” said Kavazovic.

In his Eid sermon, the Grand Mufti emphasized that the country is crying out for peace, that conflicts, fruitless discussions, blockades and quarrels have exhausted the people, and that youth look at all this with disbelief and look for their happiness elsewhere.

“We must reject the politics of primitive quarrels if we want to join the civilized, normal world. The first thing we should do is not to threaten each other, to start talking about the country, the homeland and the state apparatus, which will serve all of us equally, instead of arguments and discussions. Is it that hard?! We must understand and accept that this country is our common destiny. No one will be able to change that, no matter how hard they try and want to. You can't leave your own skin, says the popular proverb. It is our homeland, a heritage that is carried in the heart and defended with property and life. That's how it was in the past, that's how it is today and that's how it will be tomorrow,” he underlined.

Kavazovic underlined that in mutual relations we should try to overcome anger and forgive each other because forgiveness is the strength of the individual and brings peace to the community.

“In the world we live in, there are many poor and unhappy people. In the graces with which we are endowed, there is also their right. Our hearts must be with the people, children and women of Gaza and Ukraine. We forgot about God, so He, the Most High – as He promised – made man forget himself. The world has become meaningless and the disappearance of happiness, sincerity, love and human warmth, but also the disappearance of many blessings,” Kavazovic believes.

Raisu-l-ulama of the Islamic Community told the faithful to recite prayers to stop the wars.

“We point the finger at the criminals, demanding justice for the victims. Let's never stop doing that, no matter who they are. May Allah accept our good deeds and may peace reign among the believers. We do not lose hope in Allah's mercy and forgiveness,” said Kavazovic.

Kavazovic wished the believers, with the wish for happy and blessed Eid days, to spend them in the circle of family and friends, and to preserve neighbourly relations, because this is the sunnah of Muhammad, peace be upon him.

He also wished happy Eid days to Muslims in Serbia, Montenegro, Croatia, Kosovo, Slovenia and North Macedonia, and to brothers and sisters in the countries of Western Europe, North America and Australia.

“May the days of Eid always remind us of our brotherhood in faith and togetherness in our homeland. I am asking the Most High to ease the sorrow of those who mourn and make their hearts happy, to grant healing to the sick, and to make the poor wealthy from His treasures of good. Eid Mubarak Olsun!, concluded in the Eid sermon at the Eid prayer held this morning in the Gazi Husrev Bey's Mosque in Sarajevo, Rais-l-ulama of the Islamic Community in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Husein effendi Kavazovic.
