Bosnia and Herzegovina has aligned itself with a European Union decision imposing restrictive measures on one individual and five entities responsible for actions undermining or threatening Ukraine's territorial integrity, sovereignty, and independence.

According to a statement by the Council of the European Union, the sanctions were imposed primarily because of the links between the individual and companies and Russia's military-industrial complex.

Alongside Bosnia and Herzegovina, Albania, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Moldova, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Norway, and Ukraine also aligned themselves with the Council decision.

Those countries committed to bringing their national policies into line with the EU decision, a move welcomed by the European Union.

The decision, adopted on July 17, amends previous EU restrictive measures introduced in response to actions threatening Ukraine's territorial integrity, sovereignty, and independence.

The Council said the additional sanctions were prompted by the continuation and escalation of Russia's aggression against Ukraine, including missile and drone attacks on civilians and the deliberate targeting of energy, water, and healthcare infrastructure.

Under the new decision, one individual and five entities have been added to the existing EU sanctions list.
