Bosnian Presidency Chairman Milorad Dodik said that the grief for the Serb population in Drakulic village near the north-Bosnian city of Banja Luka, and the surrounding villages who were "killed in the Ustasha massacre without a single bullet fired will not cease for centuries."
Dodik mentioned that Drakulic, Sargovac, Motike and the area around the Rekavac mine are areas of a terrible crime committed by Ustashas in the Second World War, killing 2,315 Serbs who offered no resistance.
“Among those killed in the cruellest way were 551 children, which in today's conditions is a whole school, and they were killed only because they are Serbs. Their commemoration will not stop, and will continue to come for decades and centuries,” Dodik told reporters, after attending the commemoration of the 79th anniversary of the suffering of Serbs from those villages in the Ustasha massacre that happened on this day in 1942.
The Ustasha – Croatian Revolutionary Movement was a Croatian fascist, racist, ultranationalist and terrorist organization, active, in its original form, between 1929 and 1945. Its members murdered hundreds of thousands of Serbs, Jews, and Roma as well as political dissidents in Yugoslavia during World War II.
Dodik also pointed out that the generations of youths who come must know that their ancestors were killed in this area because they belonged to the same people and the same religion, that “the insidious ideology of the Independent State of Croatia (NDH) a World War II-era puppet state of Nazi Germany, was aimed at killing a third of Serbs, converting a third to Catholicism and displacing a third adding that they did it by committing monstrous crimes.
He noted that it must be said that it was done by a part of the Croatian people who accepted the ideology of the NDH, which at that time was recognized by some European countries such as Italy and Germany.
