Bosnia’s Prosecutor’s Office filed an indictment on Thursday against a local who allegedly tried to smuggle an underage Pakistani migrant to neighbouring Croatia in exchange for money.

According to prosecutors, Ismar Muhic, a resident of the northwestern Bosnian city of Bihac, “came into contact with an illegal migrant, a minor from Pakistan who did not possess documentation required for entering and staying in Bosnia and Herzegovina.”

“After that, the accused, for the agreed amount of money, drove the minor migrant towards the border with Croatia, in order to cross the Una River illegally to the territory of Croatia and the EU, where he was discovered and prevented from doing so by a police patrol,” the Prosecutor’s Office said.

The indictment was forwarded to the Court of BiH for confirmation.

The Una-Sana Canton (USK), where Bihac is located, is the area most affected by the migrant crisis in Bosnia since it borders with Croatia.
