BiH prosecutors receive complaint alleging sexual harassment at universities

Bosnia’s Prosecutor’s Office received a criminal complaint alleging sexual harassment involving more than 20 victims at higher education institutions in Bosnia and Herzegovina after the issue came into focus in the region following a high-profile case in Serbia.

The Prosecutor’s Office said it formed a case and will investigate the allegations but would not reveal any further details.

Sexual harassment came into focus after Miroslav Mika Aleksic, the famous owner of the Belgrade acting school was arrested based on reports by several girls who said he raped and harassed them. Police said that Aleksic was arrested on suspicion of sexually assaulting five of his students, two of whom were minors at the time of the acts.

Among them was actress Milena Radulovic, who told the press that Aleksic raped her on several occasions while she was a minor.

This prompted people across the region to speak out about sexual harassment at education institutions in Bosnia as well.
