Bosnia and Herzegovina's Presidency held an extraordinary session Thursday and adopted a decision to temporarily close the country’s embassies in the Islamic Republic of Iran (Tehran) and the State of Israel (Tel Aviv).
An urgent and temporary evacuation of diplomatic staff from both embassies has been ordered.
During the interim period, Bosnia and Herzegovina’s political and diplomatic representation in Iran and Israel will be conducted from the headquarters of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, based in the Council of Ministers in Sarajevo. Consular affairs will be handled via Bosnia’s diplomatic-consular missions in the Republic of Turkey (Ankara and Istanbul), the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan (Amman), and the Arab Republic of Egypt (Cairo).
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has been tasked with implementing this decision, which takes effect immediately.
