Bosnia’s Foreign Trade and Economic Relations Minister, Stasa Kosarac, officially informed Croatia that BiH will participate in the environmental impact assessment of the site in Trgovska Gora, near the border between the two countries, where Croatian authorities plan to dispose radioactive waste.
Kosarac responded to a letter from the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development of the Republic of Croatia, in which the competent institutions of Bosnia and Herzegovina were informed that the Croatian side is carrying out the procedure for determining the content of the study on the environmental impact of radioactive waste disposal at the Čerkezovac location on Trgovska Gora, the Ministry of Foreign Trade and economic relations of BiH said.
“In the official letter that I sent to the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development of Croatia, I clearly stated that BiH intends to participate in the environmental impact assessment procedure, and that, respecting the deadlines, we will submit to the Croatian side our requests, remarks and key questions, which should be considered in the study on the environmental impact of the disposal of radioactive waste on Trgovska Gora”, Minister Kosarac said.
He added that, in accordance with the procedures, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina was also asked to deliver the BiH’s official response to Croatia through the diplomatic-consular network.
“After we took the first necessary step in a timely manner, I now insist on maximum engagement and ask the Expert and Legal Team to, respecting the defined deadline, submit adequately prepared requests, remarks and questions that we will address to the Croatian side,” emphasized Minister Kosarac.
