The national women's basketball team of Bosnia not only has a chance to beat France in the next stage of EuroBasket, but also anyone else, team member Jonquel Jones said after BiH qualified for the quarter-finals.
BiH’s women's basketball team has beaten Croatia 80-69 on Monday, securing its spot at the EuroBasket quarter-finals – the biggest success the national team has ever achieved in international competitions.
Jones scored the most points for Bosnia, 24, followed by Nikolina Babic (16), Miljana Dzombeta (14), and Andjela Delic (12).
Head coach Goran Lojo thanked the fans for all the support and called the win “the greatest victory of my career.”
The team will face the French team in the next stage of the championship this Wednesday.
When asked what kind of game she expects it to be, Jones said “a really good one.”
“I don’t think that it’s going to be a game where we’re going to be able to come in and really blow them out or get a big lead so I think that our job is going to be to control the game, control the pace of it, keep it as close as possible,” she said.
She was then asked whether she truly believes Bosnia’s team has a chance against France.
“I believe we have a chance against anybody,” she said. “If we didn’t have a chance we wouldn’t be playing the game.”
Her message to Bosnians:
“This one was for you all!
