Executive Director Branislav Stojkic hailed the race as a historic milestone for Bosnian sports, confirming that professional cyclists from five continents are expected to compete. Organizers noted strong institutional backing from the Council of Ministers of BiH, as well as support from all cantons, cities, and municipalities along the route. Currently, 90 percent of the event's budget has already been secured.
Toni Zoric, President of the Cycling Federation of BiH and Race Director, stated that preparations have been underway for six months. Public and professional interest has already surpassed expectations, with 176 riders from 38 countries registered. Over 75 professional teams applied for a spot in the race, where participants will earn points toward qualification for the next Olympic Games.
The route: 390 kilometers through nature
The race consists of three stages covering a total of 390 kilometers:
- Stage 1 (April 17): Sarajevo to Mostar
- Stage 2 (April 18): Mostar to Ljubuski
- Stage 3 (April 19): Ljubuski to Neum
The course is designed to highlight the country's cultural and natural heritage, passing through the Neretva River canyon, the historic town of Pocitelj, Kravice Waterfalls, Stolac, and UNESCO-protected medieval tombstones (stecci), before finishing on the Adriatic coast in Neum.
A collaborative effort
The event is supported by a workforce of over 130 professionals from Bosnia and the surrounding region, alongside 500 volunteers. Izet Radjo, President of the Olympic Committee of BiH, emphasized that the race serves as a powerful platform for promoting unity, fair play, and the nation's natural beauty. Mayors Mario Kordic of Mostar and Vedran Markotic of Ljubuski also highlighted the race's role in strengthening local cooperation.
Following the official press conference, contracts were signed with all organizing partners. Fans across the region will be able to follow the action live on Arena Sport channels.
