Speaking to N1, Weber commented on the media reports that Schmidt is going to impose the electoral law changes, which sparked reactions among pro-Bosnian political parties and academia, who warned that such changes would mean more discrimination and further divisions among Bosnia's major ethnic groups.

According to Weber, it is still uncertain what the peace envoy would do tomorrow and if he was going to impose the set of amendments that leaked in media or if he would act afterwards.

It is clear, he stressed, that Schmidt, who is a German diplomat, has no support of Germany but does have support of the USA and the UK. However, he noted, nothing has been decided yet.

Weber deems that the international community got divided and that this is a crucial moment.

Commenting on the said set of amendments to the Election Law, he said there are three elements to it, the first being the functionality of the Bosniak-Croat shared Federation BiH entity which is aimed at what comes next after the October elections. The second element includes a set of measures of the integrity of electoral process and the third one is, according to Weber, the most problematic one and he calls it “something has to be given to the Croats i.e. HDZ party and (its leader Dragan) Covic.”
