The body of a meteorologist who had been missing for several days was discovered on Bjelasnica Mountain. The information was confirmed to the N1 news portal.
Over the past few days, extensive search efforts were organized to locate the missing individual. However, the operation faced significant challenges due to severe weather conditions, including dense fog that reduced visibility and strong winds that hampered progress. The search focused on the area surrounding the Federation entity Hydrometeorological Institute’s observatory at the peak of Bjelasnica, standing at an altitude of 2,067 meters.
The missing person was an employee of the FBiH Hydrometeorological Institute. He had been en route to his regular shift at the Bjelasnica Observatory earlier this week. He was last seen on Tuesday around 10 am, walking toward the observatory at the mountain’s summit. When he failed to check in with his colleague, who was awaiting him to hand over the shift, the Sarajevo Canton Mountain Rescue Service (GSS KS) was alerted.
Rescue teams, including members of the FBiH Mountain Rescue Service, the FBiH Civil Protection Administration, the Sarajevo Canton Civil Protection Service, ZOI 84 employees, and the Sarajevo Canton Ministry of Interior, launched a search operation. Despite their efforts, extreme weather conditions hindered the search until the tragic discovery of his body.
