Bosnia gained a new astronomical observatory

The building of the former Vema department store will soon become the home of an imposing building that houses a hotel, a spa centre, a gym, numerous shops, an alpinist artificial rock and as a special attraction - a new astronomical observatory. The investor (Osman Susa) had the idea from the beginning of building the facility to place a dome with a telescope on the terraces of the building. The dome was installed five years ago, and in the meantime, interior and exterior work was being done on the building. Its diameter is 5.5 meters, allowing for several people's simultaneous stay in the area under the dome. Consultants from AD Orion have been in contact with Mr. Susa for the past few years. In December 2022, they officially signed a memorandum of cooperation and the establishment of astronomical observatories - which is called "VEMA Visoko Astronomical Observatory".

During the past months, consultants from AD Orion got in touch with the German company Astroshop.eu, from which a telescope with accompanying equipment was ordered according to the established specifications, and a reflector telescope from the American company MEADE was chosen. (The telescope has a diameter of 35.5 cm, a focal length of 284.5 cm. The maximum useful magnification of the telescope is 710 times.) The telescope arrived in Visoko in mid-August, when first the mechanical assembly followed, and then the adjustment of the motors that rotate the dome and move a slide through which the sky is observed. The entire market research, acquisition and assembly of the telescope was carried out by the team from AD Orion, i.e. experts Jasmin Dolamic and Armin Hujic headed by Muhamed Muminovic.
