A ski club in Bosnia and Herzegovina created the first ski simulator of this kind in the country, making it possible for all those willing to learn or improve their skiing skills to do that indoors on this training machine before heading for ski slopes.
Mladen Ceko, the coach at the Banja Luka-based Ski Club Olymp, said the club staff had this idea for the first time several years ago but only a year and a half ago they decided to make it a reality.
The whole team took part in creating the simulator, making the final product perfect.
“We got the designs from a person in Novi Sad (Serbia) who has two such machines and then we added some of our ideas to his solutions, to make the simulator as safe as possible. Of course, we expanded it a bit compared to the one they have. We believe this enables a better work, gives more space while skiing and makes it easier to work on some elements (of the skiing),” said Ceko.
According to this skiing expert, the age and gender are not important and anyone is free to learn or improve their skiing skills on this ski simulator.
“It will be much easier for the beginners to go out on a ski slope,” he stressed.
The main goal behind this project was to familiarise the citizens with skiing and to make it possible for the beginners to try this sport in the safest possible way.
“The response is phenomenal and we hope it will stay like that,” he added.
Banja Luka is the first city in Bosnia and Herzegovina to introduce ski training on this kind of simulator, while skiing is among the top popular sports and recreation activities in larger parts of the country.
