Bosnia and Herzegovina’s Grand Mufti Husein Kavazovic spoke at iftar, a meal that breaks the day-long Muslim fast, in Zenica Monday night about the message sent to him by former High Representative Valentin Inzko that left him feeling uneasy and worried.
“I was in Qatar, at iftar with the Emir of Qatar. Valentin Inzko was also there. He was not at the iftar, but he was in Qatar with our Ambassador. And he sent me a message. I don't know why me. I didn't see him. He said, convey this to the Grand Mufti, and we have known each other for a long time, convey to him and tell him that Bosniaks have no one to rely on except themselves. I have to tell you that this message of his worried me and I can't get it out of my head,” Kavazovic said.
In the past several months, Grand Mufti Kavazovic often commented on the political situation in the country, which led to arguments with certain politicians. He had a particularly fierce exchange in the media with the president of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), Nermin Niksic.
