International friendly football match between Bosnia and Israel, within the EURO 2024 qualifying play-offs, planned for March 26 in Sarajevo, has been called off.
The Football Association of Bosnia and Herzegovina said that the decision was passed after consultations with relevant institutions, considering current security situation and that the game was assessed as a high-risk event.
Football governing body in Europe UEFA also approved the decision.
Bosnian national team will play a friendly game in 2024, depending on the schedule in UEFA calendar.
This information was also confirmed by the president of the Israeli Football Association in interviews with the local media.
“Due to the tense situation, UEFA contacted me as soon as the matches were over and they asked if we could abandon the match against Bosnia and Herzegovina, which is insignificant for both national teams,” said Shino Zoertz, referring to the play-offs on Thursday evening, where both Bosnia and Israel lost to their opponents.
