Bosnia's military helicopters continue to battle fires in Kakanj and Zavidovici
Bosnia and Herzegovina Armed Forces helicopters have resumed operations this morning to combat fires in the Ponijeri area near Kakanj and the Tajan Nature Park, extending towards Zavidovići, according to Dzavid Alicic, Director of the Civil Protection Directorate of the Zenica-Doboj Canton.
Alicic noted that one helicopter from the Armed Forces was involved in firefighting efforts last night, alongside firefighters and workers from the Forestry and Timber Industry of Zenica-Doboj Canton.
"Two Armed Forces helicopters arrived at 7:30 AM today. According to reports from Kakanj, the fire in their area has been brought under control with no open flames, but efforts continue to extinguish the forest fire in the Zavidovići area," said Alicic.
Authorities hope that the fire will be fully localized or extinguished by the end of the day.
