Bosnia records modest tourism growth throughout 2025

Tourism in Bosnia and Herzegovina maintained a slow, upward trajectory in 2025, with the country welcoming a total of 1,963,443 visitors from January to December. According to the Agency for Statistics of BiH, this represents a 0.3 percent increase compared to 2024.

The growth was balanced across both sectors, as domestic tourist visits rose by 0.2 percent, while international visits saw a 0.4 percent uptick.
Overnight stays also saw a positive shift, totaling 4,083,977, a 1.0 percent increase over the previous year. Domestic tourists accounted for 29.7 percent of these stays (a 1.4 percent increase), while international tourists represented the majority at 70.3 percent (a 0.9 percent increase).
In terms of international markets, Croatia remained the primary source of visitors, accounting for 14.1 percent of foreign overnight stays. Other top contributing countries included:
- Serbia: 10.9 percent;
- Turkey: 9.7 percent;
- Slovenia: 5.9 percent;
- Saudi Arabia: 5.6 percent;
- Germany: 4.4 percent;
- China: 3.8 percent;
- United States: 3.4 percent;
- Italy: 3.1 percent.
Together, these nations represented 60.9 percent of all foreign overnight stays. The data further revealed a strong preference for specific lodging, as 93.7 percent of all overnight stays were recorded within the "Hotels and similar accommodation" category.
