Bosniak members of the Council of Peoples of BiH’s Republika Srpska (RS) entity initiated the procedure for the protection of vital national interest to veto the adoption of the RS Law on Immovable Property, RS Council of Peoples Chair, Srebrenka Golic, said on Wednesday.

She said that five representatives in the Bosniak Club – three from the Party of Democratic Action (SDA) and one each from the Social Democratic Party (SDP) and the “Green” party – voted that there is a need to initiate the vital national interest protection mechanism, while three other representatives considered that there is no violation of the vital interest of any of BiH’s three constituent peoples.

Golic argued that the Draft Law on Immovable Property, which was adopted by the RS National Assembly last week, “does not damage the vital national interest of any people living on the territory of the RS” and that it is a law that regulates immovable property used by public institutions.
