The Armed Forces of Bosnia and Herzegovina have heightened security at military facilities due to threatening reports that emerged yesterday around 3 PM.

According to Jelena Miovcic, spokesperson for SIPA (State Investigation and Protection Agency), all police forces and weapons manufacturers were notified to increase their security measures.

“We are already acting on orders from the Prosecutor's Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina. In the past few days, there have been bomb threats at shopping malls, the BiH Presidency, and Sarajevo International Airport. Now, military facilities have also been targeted. We are aware of the situation and are acting strictly under the orders of the Prosecutor's Office,” Miovcic stated.

She further added, “We have immediately informed OSA (Intelligence-Security Agency), NATO, and EUROPOL about our findings. Our colleagues are on the ground working under the Prosecutor's orders.”

Zukan Helez, the Minister of Defense of Bosnia and Herzegovina, addressed the public via his official Facebook profile regarding the current security situation in the country.

“Unfortunately, we are witnessing the escalation of conflicts in the Middle East and Ukraine. Considering the potential impact on Bosnia and Herzegovina, I have ordered increased security measures for command posts, units, facilities, and ammunition depots within the Armed Forces of BiH to protect personnel, facilities, and assets of the Ministry of Defense and the Armed Forces of BiH,” Helez stated.

He further emphasized:

“These measures are preventative and will remain in effect until further notice. Citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina should not be alarmed—the security situation in our country is stable, and there is no information or indication that it will be compromised. The heightened security applies solely to military facilities.”

SIPA is currently working to trace the IP address of the individual responsible for the threats. Last week, multiple bomb threats targeted various locations, including Sarajevo Airport, shopping centers, and schools.
