The Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina has today acquitted Borislav Paravac, Andrija Bjelosevic, and Milan Savic of charges related to crimes against humanity in the areas of Doboj and Teslic.
The judgment cleared Paravac, Bjelosevic, and Savic of charges including murder, unlawful detention of Bosniak and Croat civilians, enforced disappearances, physical abuse, torture, looting, and destruction of religious sites.
Paravac and Bjelosevic were also acquitted of participating in a joint criminal enterprise.
Only Bjelosevic was present in court for the reading of the first-instance verdict.
Paravac had been charged in his capacity as the president of the Crisis Staff in Doboj, while Bjelosevic and Savic were accused as the chief and deputy chief of the Doboj Public Security Center, respectively.
The trial began in April 2016. Initially, Milan Ninkovic, a former member of the Crisis Staff in Doboj, was also charged in the case, but his proceedings were separated due to illness.
An appeal can be filed against this verdict to the Appellate Panel of the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina, reports BIRN BiH.
