The municipal court in Zivinice, Bosnia and Herzegovina has ordered one-month detention for 14 members of the Torcida supporters’ group over an attack on Crvena zvezda (Red Star Belgrade) fans near Tuzla on Saturday evening, in which four people and a police officer were seriously injured.

In a statement issued on Wednesday, the court said it had accepted a request by the cantonal prosecutor’s office to remand the suspects in custody, citing reasonable suspicion that on 24 January they took part, in an organised manner and in large numbers, in an attack on Red Star supporters that resulted in serious consequences.
The attack took place in the village of Dubrave Gornje, near Tuzla International Airport, where a large group of supporters of Split-based Hajduk attacked Red Star fans who were returning from a match in Sweden. The suspects allegedly assaulted them with metal bars, flares and other objects.
Several dozen people were involved in the clash. Acting on orders from the prosecutor’s office, police detained 14 Hajduk supporters, 11 of whom are residents of Croatia and three of BiH.
Four Red Star fans were seriously injured in the attack, as was a police officer from Zivinice who intervened to try to stop the violence. Several other people sustained minor injuries.
The court said the suspects have the right to appeal against the 30-day detention order to the municipal court in Zivinice.
