The Civil Affairs Ministry confirmed on Friday that the state medical authority approved the import of vaccines to Bosnia and Herzegovina, removing the last remaining procedural obstacle to the vaccine procurement through pharmaceutical companies.
Citing a law paragraph regulating this matter, the ministry said that the Agency for Medicines and Medical Devices of Bosnia and Herzegovina can allow the import of medicines that were previously not on the market if they are crucial for the prevention i.e. elimination of consequences of the state of emergency.
“This concerns 108,000 doses of AstraZeneca vaccines. The chosen wholesaler, based on previously conducted tender, is ‘Hercegovina lijek’ company, registered with the Agency's registry and holding necessary certificates,” the ministry said.
The information comes a day after the Council of Ministers amended the agreement with the Global Vaccine Alliance (GAVI), meeting an additional condition for the vaccine delivery through the COVAX system.
