An agreement between the Mines Union of Bosnia’s Federation (FBiH) entity, the FBiH Government and the parent energy company Elektroprivreda (EP BiH) was reached and signed Monday and salaries in the Breza and Zenica mines should be paid by February 17th, EP BiH said.

The EP BiH added that an amendment to the Agreement was adopted regarding the regulation of retirement for 85 workers.

The representatives of the FBiH Miners’ Union have been negotiating with representatives of the FBiH Government and the Public Enterprise EP BiH since this morning. Miners demands were unblocking the accounts of the Zenica and Breza brown coal mines, payment of salaries and hot meal allowances for January and the payment of contributions for 36 Zenica miners who received retirement decisions last year, but since no contributions were paid for them, have not yet started receiving their pension.

Zenica miners began a hunger strike last Wednesday, which turned into a general strike a day after, and the mine was in a complete standstill until this Monday.
