Bosnian Muslim charity brings meals to Catholic families for Easter

Anadolija

The Muslim charity ‘Merhamet’ distributed food packages to socially endangered Catholic families in the northwestern Bosnian town of Bihac to mark Easter.

The president of the charity, Kenan Vrbanjac, as well as the director of the Regional Committee of Merhamet in Bihac, Alen Prosic, took part in the distribution of the packages, the organisation said.

Vrbanjac stressed that other local branches of the charity throughout Bosnia and Herzegovina did the same for their fellow Catholic citizens and that the distribution of packages during Easter has become a tradition.

“We want to enable our fellow citizens of the Catholic faith to spend their big holiday in joy and with a rich Easter dinner. Next week, ‘Merhamet’ will visit Orthodox families in need and also provide them with food packages. Merhamet helps all those who need help, regardless of religion and nation,” said Vrbanjac.
