Bosnian officials, including the Bosniak and Bosnian Croat Presidency members, as well as the House of Peoples Chairman, congratulated Passover to Jews in Bosnia and the head of the country’s Jewish Community, Jakob Finci.
“This great Jewish holiday carries the symbolism of gaining freedom and leaving slavery, and as such it represents the celebration of human dignity and hope for a better tomorrow,” said Bosniak tripartite Presidency member, Sefik Dzaferovic.
“I wish that the Jews of Bosnia and Herzegovina spend the holidays with their loved ones, and to share the joy of Pesach with their neighbours in the spirit of the Bosnian-Herzegovinian tradition of mutual respect and coexistence,” he said.
His Bosnian Croat colleague in the Presidency, Zeljko Komsic, stressed that “the Jewish Community is an inseparable part of Bosnia’s society, culture and tradition” and that Passover is a holiday that must be celebrated in Bosnia.
Bakir Izetbegovic, Chairman of the House of Peoples and leader of the main Bosniak party in the country, the Party for Democratic Action (SDA), also congratulated.
“Let Pesach, as a symbol of the joy of deliverance and freedom, be an incentive for all of us to move towards the common goal of preserving freedom, equality and human dignity,” he said.
