A member of Parliament in Bosnia’s Federation (FBiH) entity Salko Zildzic signed a plea agreement with the Higher Public Prosecutor's Office in Uzice, Serbia stipulating a sentence of one year of house arrest. The agreement was forwarded to the High Public Court. If the Court accepts it in the shortest (legal) period, Zildzic's custody will be terminated.
According to Bosnia’s Criminal Code, the house arrest sentence can be swapped for a fine, Zildžic's lawyer, Ljubisa Radulovic, confirmed for N1.
If the High Court confirms the agreement, Zildzic will be released from custody, and this confirmation is expected “shortly,” Radulovic told Radio Free Europe.
The Higher Public Prosecutor's Office from Uzice previously stated that it issued an order to conduct an investigation against Zildzic, “due to the existence of a well-founded suspicion that he committed the criminal offence of illegal production, possession, carrying and trafficking of weapons and explosive substances”, based on the Criminal Code of Serbia.
Zildzic was stopped at a Bajina Basta border crossing in Serbia, on his way to meet an acquaintance when the Serbian Border Police discovered a firearm in his vehicle for which he had a Bosnian permit for possession and carry.
