A Bosnian school has been established in the German city of Freiburg, where it will be possible to attend supplementary classes in the native Bosnian language for all children of school age, from the first to the ninth grade.

Nerma Zlibanovic, Sanela Catovic and Halila Feratovic were elected coordinators of the Bosnian school in Freiburg, and 21 children have already been enrolled in the school.

In his welcoming address, the President of the Association of BiH supplementary schools in the diaspora, Haris Halilovic, shared his experiences of the work of BiH supplementary schools in Germany, the principles on which they operate, the enormous effort of BiH activists to preserve supplementary schools in the mother tongue, because the state of BiH has not yet regulated this field, especially emphasizing the importance of preserving the mother tongue and identity of children of BiH citizens in the diaspora and ties with the homeland.

He states that this is the 47th department of supplementary schools in BiH, which were founded in Germany in 2008, as part of the project “Preserving the mother tongue and identity of children of BiH citizens in the diaspora through BiH supplementary schools and cultural activities”.
