After several failed attempts, the Bosnian state ministers adopted on Monday a decision securing a larger part of the amount for the October elections in Bosnia and Herzegovina as well as the draft budget for 2022.
The Council of Ministers passed a special decision allocating 9.7 million Bosnian marks (approx 4.9 million euro), initially planned for the Communications Regulatory Agency, to the Central Election Commission.
Securing the funds for the general elections called for October 2 have been a burning issue due to the political bickering and lack of the state budget ever since the top electoral authority announced the ballot
The legal deadline for securing the money was May 19, and the Central Election Commission has been repeatedly warning about thedeadline expiration. Although the state ministers passed the decision, the full amount needed to organise the vote, according to the Commission's estimates, is 12.5 million marks (approx 6.3 million euro).
Milorad Dodik, the Serb member of the Bosnian tripartite Presidency, said a day ago that the decision on financing the elections would be made on Monday.
The general elections in BiH are scheduled for October 2 this year.
