Trebinje is one of Bosnia’s most important tourist destinations, which, thanks to its excellent geographical location between Dubrovnik and Herceg Novi, develops tourism intensively throughout the year.

The Mejlis of the Islamic Community of Trebinje and numerous diaspora become more significant investors in tourism, expanding the offer and attracting new guests, both domestic and foreign.

The first halal restaurant in the city – a kebab shop was recently opened, which is located in the Vakuf House in the Old Town, near the Sultan Ahmed Mosque.

Orhan Ticic was born in Trebinje and lives and works in England. Despite the distance, he spends a lot of time in his hometown, and recently he decided to invest in a restaurant, namely a kebab house.

“In England, I have a company that cooperates with the food industry, where we do marketing, consulting, social networks, websites and applications. Together with my colleague Tihomir Ateljevic from Trebinje, we came up with the idea to open a restaurant in the Old Town,” Ticic told Anadolu agency.

His intention is to use his example of successful investments to motivate others from the diaspora to invest in Trebinje and BiH in order to improve the local economy and standard, which benefits all citizens.

The facility is in the process of halal certification, making it unique in this part of the country.
