Bosnian citizens can travel to Kosovo with an ID card as of January 1st of this year. However, the problem is that minor citizens, children, do not have an ID card and are not allowed to cross the border.
The Government of Kosovo has unilaterally enabled citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina to travel to Kosovo only with an ID card as of January 1st, 2025.
Given that children do not have an ID card, and the decision does not specify that they can travel with a passport or birth certificate, the border police in Kosovo have no other choice but to return parents with children, that is, they are not allowed to enter the territory of Kosovo.
Although they have an understanding for parents with children who travel hundreds of kilometres from BiH to Kosovo, the police cannot approve their crossing, because the Decision does not specify that children can cross the border with a passport or birth certificate.
