Bosnia’s average net salary drops slightly in August

The average monthly paid net salary per employee in Bosnia and Herzegovina for August this year amounted to 1,579 Bosnian marks (approximately €808), marking a nominal decrease of 1.4 percent and a real decrease of 1.2 percent compared to July 2025.

According to the Agency for Statistics of Bosnia and Herzegovina, the average net salary for August this year was 13.5 percent higher nominally than in the same month last year. During the same period, the real index increased by nine percent.

In August, the highest average net salaries were recorded in the information and communication sector, where they reached 2,155 marks (approx. €1,103), followed by the financial and insurance sector with 2,055 marks (approx. €1,052), and the production and supply of electricity, gas, steam, and air conditioning sector with 1,939 marks (around €993).

The lowest average salaries were reported in the accommodation and food service activities, where employees earned 1,137 marks (some €582), and in the construction sector, where the average salary amounted to 1,257 marks (nearly €644).

The average monthly gross salary per employee in BiH for August 2025 stood at 2,449 marks (around €1,255), showing a nominal decrease of 1.4 percent and a real decrease of 1.2 percent compared to July 2025.

Compared to August last year, the average gross salary was 13.7 percent higher nominally, the Agency said.
