An attack on Bosnian institutions is an attack on peace in the country, Bosniak Presidency member Sefik Dzaferovic said Thursday during a meeting with Greens MEPs and members of the BiH Friendship Group Tineke Strike and Romeo Franz.
Speaking about the current security and political situation in the country, Dzaferovic said that with the help of the international community, BiH has made significant progress over the past 26 years and that this progress has now been threatened by Republika Srpska (RS) entity authorities’ unilateral actions.
He noted that BiH managed to preserve peace thanks to the establishment of state institutions and that Serb Presidency member Milorad Dodik and the RS government’s attacks on the state and its institutions are attacks on the foundations of peace.
The focus of the discussion was also Dodik’s announcement that the RS police would take over the barracks belonging to the Armed Forces of BiH, situated on the territory of the Serb-dominated entity.
nterlocutors stressed that peace and stability are essential for the peace and stability of the EU.
The MEPs and the BiH Presidency member also touched upon the situation in the region adding that the Bosnian situation was not isolated but that the problem is the result of negative influences and interferences from the neighbouring countries.
