Bosnia's Federation entity says 30% US tariffs would endanger arms exports

Authorities in Bosnia and Herzegovina's Federation (FBiH) entity have voiced concern over the United States’ announcement of a possible 30% tariff on goods from BiH, warning that such measures could seriously jeopardise the country’s growing defence industry.

FBiH Minister of Energy, Mining and Industry Vedran Lakic said on Tuesday that they were analysing the possible implications of the proposed tariffs
“I sincerely hope it does not come to this, as we have an exceptionally good relationship and significant trade exchange with the US. The imposition of tariffs would undoubtedly pose a threat to our industry, particularly the defence sector,” he said.
US authorities have indicated that tariffs on goods from BiH could reach 30% if no agreement is reached between the two countries by 1 August. Total exports from the Federation to the US in 2024 amounted to approximately $ 120.3 million, of which $69.2 million related to the export of arms, ammunition and military equipment.
