The authorities in Bosnia's Federation entity have earmarked 16 million marks (cca 8 million euro) in the 2024 budget of the Ministry for Labour and Social Policy for the support to mothers, who will get 1,000 marks (cca 500 euro) for every newborn baby during this year.

“Funds from the budget are spent on the basis of regulations from the Law on Budget Execution, and this obliges us to prepare a the funds spending plan and regulations that must contain details on how to spend, in this case, these 16 million planned for one-time support for newborn children in this year,” said minister Adnan Delic.

The Ministry is currently working on the creation of legal and technical prerequisites for the implementation of this transfer, to minimise the administrative procedures and carry out the necessary checks without burdening the citizens.

“We are trying to change the system, digitise it, that is, we are working on the technical adjustment of the application with UNDP so that the application for this one-time support for newborn children can be done online, from your home, without walking and applying anywhere,” said the minister.

Once the application is operational, it will be open for submissions throughout the year, and funds will be paid in accordance with the rules defined in the Expenditure Decree and the manner of spending of these 16 million marks.
