Authorities in Bosnia and Herzegovina have done everything they could and was required for the procurement of vaccine against COVID-19 in the country and any setbacks in the process are up to the suppliers, Foreign Affairs Minister, Bisera Turkovic, said on Wednesday.
Turkovic made the statement following a session of Bosnia’s Council of Ministers where a number of issues, including the process of procuring vaccines, was discussed.
Bosnia is still waiting for vaccination to start but has already secured everything needed for the process, including setting up a chain for storing the Pfizer vaccine, she said.
“All actions have been completed, everything has been prepared. Everything that could have been prepared on our part has been done and we are waiting for the vaccine to arrive,” she said.
Turkovic denied criticism that the government did not meet all conditions for the vaccines to arrive.
“Everything that was up to BiH to do has been done. We paid the amounts of money needed. If there is some fault in this, then it is up to the suppliers who should have delivered the vaccines. The processes were much slower than expected. Obviously, we were not as aggressive as other countries,” she said.
She announced that the vaccines are expected to arrive within the next “five or six days.”
