Bosnia’s foreign trade deficit reaches € 5.35 billion in ten months

Bosnia and Herzegovina recorded a foreign trade deficit of 10.47 billion Bosnian marks (€5.35 billion) in the first ten months of 2024, according to the Agency for Statistics of BiH.

Exports during the January–October period amounted to 13.39 billion marks (€6.84 billion), reflecting a 4.8 percent decline compared to the same period in 2023. Meanwhile, imports totalled 23.87 billion marks (€12.19 billion), marking a 3 percent increase over last year’s figures.
The import-to-export coverage ratio stood at 56.1 percent.

Exports to CEFTA countries during this period reached 2.28 billion marks (€1.16 billion), representing a 13.1 percent decrease compared to the same period in 2023. Imports from CEFTA countries amounted to 2.83 billion marks (€1.45 billion), a 3.6 percent rise compared to the previous year. The import-to-export coverage with CEFTA countries was 80.5 percent.

Trade with European Union nations also showed a decline in exports, which amounted to 9.86 billion marks (€5.04 billion), a 4.6 percent drop from the same period in 2023. Imports from EU countries, however, increased by 4.3 percent to 14.18 billion marks (€7.25 billion). The import-to-export coverage in EU trade was recorded at 69.5 percent.
