Bosnian director Jasmila Zbanic won the "European Director of 2021" award within the 34th European Film Award while her latest masterpiece 'Quo vadis, Aida?' was named the best European Film of 2021 during the ceremony which was held on Saturday night in Berlin.
“Thank you all. I thank the women of Srebrenica who are the strongest voice for peace in Europe today. After the tragedy where they lost all their male family members, they are still working together for coexistence. I thank my mother who passed away but left an ocean of love, that ocean protects me and I persevere because of it. And my daughter, who inspires me to be more responsible for the new generation of men and women who will build a better Europe than the one we have now, “said Zbanic.

Right after Jasmila received her reward, Jasna Djuricic, the actress who plays the main role of Aida in the film “Quo vadis, Aida”, was named the best actress at the 34th European Film Awards.

Jasna Djuricic was born in Ruma on April 16, 1966. She graduated from the Academy of Arts in Novi Sad, Serbia, in the class of Professor Branko Plesa. She has been a permanent member of the Serbian National Theater in Novi Sad since 1990, where she was a drama champion. Now she is a freelance artist.
Later in the ceremony, Zbanic's ‘Quo vadis, Aida?’ was declared the best European film of 2021.
