Bosnia’s Foreign Minister Elmedin Konakovic met on Wednesday with the Ministry of Defence of the Federal Republic of Germany, Boris Pistorius.
“Minister Konakovic thanked the Republic of Germany for the continuous support it provides to BiH and its European perspective. He emphasized the good cooperation in the field of defence and support for the reform of the defence system in Bosnia and Herzegovina,” the Ministry said in their statement.
Konakovic noted the importance of the visit as part of diplomatic activities that send positive messages at this important moment for the country when the decision of the European Commission on the opening of accession negotiations is expected.
He welcomed the continued participation of Germany in the EUFOR Althea Mission, as it is an important sign of support for the reform and Euro-Atlantic processes in Bosnia and the region.
Konakovic pointed out that the opening of negotiations on membership in the European Union would mean starting the process and starting the path towards the European Union, which would concretely be a good and constructive message to Bosnia and the region to move towards an atmosphere of political, safe and economic prosperity.
Germany’s Pistorius pointed out that his country will continue to provide strong support to BiH and its defence sector by building state defence capacities as a significant part of overall security and stability in the region.
