Bosnia’s best female cyclist Lejla Njemcevic won second place in the World Cup race held in Finale Ligure, Italy, after an uncertain and interesting race.
The experienced Morath Adelheid from Germany won first place, while the third place went to Looser Vera from Namibia. The extremely technically demanding 100-kilometre course with almost 4,000 metres of elevation gain offered an interesting and one of the most difficult races ever seen in the marathon discipline.
By winning second place, Njemcevic recorded another 200 UCI points and after winning the first race of the World Cup in the Czechia, she is the current leader of the UCI World Series with 450 points, i.e. 170 points more than the second-placed Janina Wust from Switzerland.
The next competition for the BiH competitor will take place next weekend when she is expected to perform at the European Championship in France.
