The President of Bosnia’s Republika Srpska (RS) entity, Milorad Dodik, stated on Friday that the ruling coalition decided to prepare a decision in the RS National Assembly and the RS Government on terminating all contact with U.S. and U.K. diplomats and embassies in the country.
Dodik said that a team that will compile comprehensive information on “the anti-Dayton activities of American and British diplomats and embassies, as well as their interference in the internal affairs of BiH” is already being formed.
“The Dayton Agreement was not signed by the USA or Great Britain, they are not the ones who could interpret the Dayton Agreement because that is a matter for the signatories of the agreement and its annexes. Republika Srpska is a signatory to the Annex, especially Annex 4, which is the Constitution of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Annex 10 on the High Representative. American and British diplomats and embassies are systematically destroying the Constitution of BiH and other annexes, especially Annex 10 on the High Representative, permanently, and especially in the latest case when they expressed support for a private person who was named High Representative without a mandatory decision of the UN Security Council,” said Dodik.
Dodik never accepted the authority of the current High Representative of the international community, Christian Schmidt, who is tasked with overseeing the civilian implementation of the 1995 Dayton Peace Agreement.
He then went on to criticise the U.S. Ambassador in the country, Michael Murphy. He argued that Murphy “openly supports the call to arms of Muslims (referring to Bosniaks) in Bosnia and Herzegovina” and that he supported a recent statement by the Head of the Islamic Community in the country, Husein Kavazovic, which caused controversy.
“This is unacceptable for the Serbs and prevents any communication with these structures because such behaviour is a direct blow to a possible reconciliation in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Therefore, we are forced to suspend all contact with the above-mentioned representatives of the embassies. Contacts will be suspended by representatives of the authorities in Republika Srpska and representatives of Serbs at the state level, from the Presidency of BiH, the Council of Ministers, the Parliamentary Assembly and all other Serbs employed in joint institutions,” he said.
He announced that the Government of Republika Srpska, as well as the RS National Assembly, are expected to make such a decision next week.
“We were forced to do this by the Americans and the British, because it is obvious that in addition to all previous violations of the Dayton Agreement, especially Annex 4 and Annex 10, they are preparing another fraud and robbery related to property, which undoubtedly belongs to the Republika Srpska. Any measures taken by the aforementioned enemies of Serb interests regarding the property of the Republika Srpska will lead to decisions that will protect its sovereignty and will additionally build its state capacity,” said Dodik.
