Bosnia’s state court lifts restrictions on Nenad Nesic after accepting €700,000 bail

The Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina has approved a defence motion in the case of Esad Avdic et al., accepting the bail offered by suspect Nenad Nesic in the amount of 1,370,000 Bosnian marks (approximately €700,000) and lifting previously imposed restrictive measures.

Following the court’s decision, the travel ban and the obligation for Nesic to periodically report to state authorities have been revoked. The Court will, however, review the necessity of maintaining the remaining measure, prohibiting contact with certain individuals, within the timeframe set by its latest ruling on the control of restrictive measures.
The suspect was explicitly warned that the accepted bail would be forfeited and detention ordered if he fails to appear when summoned by the Court or the Prosecutor’s Office without a valid reason, or if any new legal grounds for detention arise.
The Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina stated that the measure ensuring the suspect’s presence may remain in effect until the conclusion of the criminal proceedings or until the Court decides otherwise.
