Bosnia’s top cyclist Lejla Njemcevic became the vice-champion of Europe in Viborg, Denmark, making history for the country’s cycling.
This is the first medal in the history of BiH cycling from the European Championship. She won the silver medal in an incredible sprint race in less than a bicycle length.
The medal came after finishing the 85-kilometer race.
The first was Rosa van Doorn from the Netherlands, and the third was the Italian Claudia Peretti.
“Tears, sweat, renunciation and discipline is an indication that everything is possible,” Njemcevic’s camp said in a press statement.
Lejla is the current World Series leader and World Cup winner.
This year, Njemcevic secured her 21st BiH title and she recently took second place in Sweden at the iconic Cykelvasan race.
Njemcevic will soon have the last race of the World Cup in America, where she leads the overall standings with 40 points ahead of Vera Looser.
