On this day, 38 years ago, British ice dancing partners Jayne Tornvill and Christopher Dean won the Olympic gold in Sarajevo and hearts of spectators at the Zetra Olympic Hall and the millions who watched their flawless performance on TV.
The Nottingham duo performed the Ravel's Bolero on February 14, the Valentine's Day, as the last couple in their category, being awarded unanimously the maximum 6.0 points for what was called a seamless and heart-stopping performance.
After finishing fifth at the 1980 Winter Olympics, Tornvill and Dean began a brilliant period adorned with gold medals, which culminated at the 1984 Sarajevo Winter Olympic Games where they excelled in their performance.

They finished the dance with a collapse on the ice and laying motionlessly in an embrace, which sparked standing ovations inside the hall, but also most likely across the globe where millions watched them on TV.
Twelve judges unanimously assessed the duo the highest grade.
